Emotionally drained, but sighing relief

Today has been an emotionally draining day to say the least. William was picked up early due to a fever. Zuri and I got home and within minutes, William fell, hit his head on the table, and had the worst seizure I’ve seen him have (he has a history of febrile seizures). My heart dropped. We hopped into the car and drove to the ER.  I ran in with him (he had vomited on the way there and was continuing) and got us back to a trauma room. The next 3.5 hours seemed more like 13.5.  He was responsive and vitals were good (besides temp).  They tested for strep and flu and did a CT scan (I was able to stand next to him and try to comfort him during that). He wanted Daddy (Brent) to hold him most of the time in the trauma room.

Good news - CT scan was normal. Bad news - he has strep AND Influenza A. Doctor thinks he may have had a febrile seizure which caused the fall. We didn’t see what caused the fall. All I knew was he hit his head and had the seizure.

By the time we left, William was talking, smiling, and even laughing a bit. We FaceTimed Papaw and sissy (thank you, Papaw John for stopping whatever you were doing to come get Zuri) and watched Chuggington. We got home, gave him a bath, and now he is sleeping.  Doc said he will likely have a nasty black eye, but should be fine otherwise...from the fall.

This night has been one of the scariest nights I’ve had as a parent so far. I can’t even come close to describing how I felt seeing him on the floor having the seizure, turning blue...  😔

We always have to keep an eye on his temp because of his history of febrile seizures, but even more so these next few days with having both illnesses at once. 😢

Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers.
