Get your mammograms!!  

I was not looking forward to it last year when I turned 40. I heard nothing but horror stories. Turns out, it isn’t *that* bad. The alternative is worse. 

I went for my mammogram today. Ultimately, I ended up with good news, but I was anxious/worried leading up to, and during, my appointment.  

My history:

January ‘22 - screening mammo showed an asymmetry in my left breast. This is fairly common but required a diagnostic mammo. 

February ‘22 - diagnostic mammo showed the spot was likely benign but follow up needed in 6mo. 

August ‘22 - diagnostic mammo showed again that the spot was likely benign but follow up needed in 6mo. 

January ‘23 - I had my annual exam with my GYN. He suggested seeing a breast specialist since my BIRAD score was a 3 both times during my diagnostic mammos. 

February ‘23 (today) - I had the diagnostic mammo done. Was called back in for additional views of my right breast. Ended up needing an ultrasound of my right breast too. I was becoming anxious because there was no concern with my right breast last year. I was sent over to the breast specialist and after reviewing my images, doing an exam, and running my risk profile, she concluded I could go back to annual screening mammos!! My BIRAD score dropped to a 2! The spot on the left breast decreased slightly and the spot on my right breast is a benign cyst and is normal as we age. My risk of developing breast cancer is average (12.8%). Over 20% is considered high risk.

Team Building Thursday!

After 3 days of meetings, we spent today having a little fun team building. The teams involved this week were: Strategic Business Development, Marketing, and Contract Management. We started our morning with a 3.5 mile hike. The views were beautiful!  After the hike, we had lunch and did a little shopping. Then we went on the Palm Springs Aerial Tram. Those views were amazing!!! We then had dinner and a few of us went to the casino. It was a fun filled day and was good getting to know the other teams better.

Thankful Tuesday

Today, I am thankful for the ability to travel for work and see some beautiful places.  I am also thankful for my family for supporting me.  Rancho Cucamonga (California) has not disappointed.  I love the mountain views all around!

Mountain Monday

Today was my first full day in California.  I had a customer call at 7am, breakfast at a local restaurant and then meetings in the afternoon.  The night ended with dinner with the entire group and then after hours with a couple colleagues.  My favorite part of the day though was getting to FaceTime with Brent and the kids.  💓

Small World

I traveled to California today for work with my colleague, Alex. I saw a friend from high school (Phil) near our gate. I said hi and found out he was on our flight. We chatted a bit. Then it was time to board. Alex and I planned to sit near each other. When Phil say next to Alex, I laughed. Such a small world!!

New Hair Who Dis?

Zuri and I had a hair done today.  Zuri finally got a much needed trim/cut (~3in) and got her fave style - double Dutch braids.  I decided after over a year to dye my hair again.  I have a LOT of grays to cover. 😲 Kaylin at our local salon, Rosebuds, did a fantastic job!  Oh, and I learned that Zuri doesn't know much about the Titantic tragedy.  Is that not taught in school anymore??
